A first Fokker 50 for Kenya's Skytrail Air Safaris

Skytrail Air Safaris (Bamburi) has taken delivery of its first Fokker 50, 5Y-SKN (cn 20110), formerly with Avia Express (Stockholm Arlanda). The turboprop was ferried from Maastricht to Mombasa via Heraklion and Khartoum on March 13.

Skytrail Air Safaris operates flights to remote Kenyan airstrips using DHC-6s and other small planes.

Direktflyg to upgrade Gothenburg-Sundsvall to Fokker 50

Direktflyg (HS, Borlänge/Falun) will wet-lease a Fokker 50 from Swedish cargo carrier Amapola Flyg (HP, Stockholm Arlanda) that has recently added four ex-Avia Express (Stockholm Arlanda) Fokker 50 to its fleet for passenger charter and ACMI services. Skyways and City Airline forced to file for bankruptcy, suspend operations

Skyways (JZ, Stockholm Arlanda) and its sister carrier City Airline (CF, Gothenburg Landvetter) have filed for bankruptcy and suspended operations on May 22. Both carriers were owned by Mansvell Enterprises controlled by Ukrainian business man Igor Kolomoyskyi just like Cimber Sterling (QI, Sønderborg) which had been forced to file for bankruptcy at the beginning of the month. Skyways (JZ, Stockholm Arlanda) will take over several routes left unserved by bankrupt sister carrier Cimber Sterling (QI, Sønderborg). From May 21, it will operate up to three daily ERJ-145 services between Stockholm Arlanda and Billund using City Airline (CF, Gothenburg Landvetter) aircraft. It has already launched twice daily service between Norrköping and Copenhagen Kastrup on May 7 using Avia Express (Stockholm Arlanda) Fokker 50s. Cimber Sterling News Update

Cimber Sterling (QI, Sønderborg) and sister carriers Avia Express (Stockholm Arlanda) and City Airline (CF, Gothenburg Landvetter) (which both operate for Skyways (JZ, Stockholm Arlanda)) will start sharing their fleets this summer and allocate aircraft to different routes based on demand. For now Avia Express will operate a Fokker 50 for Cimber on domestic routes in Denmark while City Airline will serve some of its services from Copenhagen Kastrup to Norrköping and Prague.
