  • Read more 08APR2014: Flybe. begins wet-leasing a Carpatair Fokker 100
    Carpatair (V3, Timisoara) has wet-leased one of its three Fokker 100s (YR-FKA, msn 11340) to Flybe. (BE, Exeter) for use on its regional flights. The Romanian carrier said in a statement that the aircraft has been based out of Birmingham Int'l since April 1 for use on flights throughout the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Ireland.
  • Read more 03APR2014: Flybe. outlines planned London Southend network
    Flybe. (BE, Exeter) has announced the exact details of its six new London Southend flights to be operated by Stobart Air (RE, Dublin Int'l) this Summer. In a press release, the British carrier said it will begin with a 3x weekly Newquay service in May while flights to Rennes, Groningen and Münster/Osnabrück will start on June 5.

    Cologne/Bonn, Caen and Antwerp are scheduled to go live on July 3.

    Operations will likely be onboard an ATR72-600.

    Flybe will increase capacity on the Southend services from September 1, resulting in a total of 102 weekly flights on the six new routes.
  • Read more 02APR2014: Flybe. secures London City traffic slots
    Flybe. (BE, Exeter) has secured traffic slots out of London City for services to five domestic UK cities. Quoting a report by Airport Coordination Limited (ACL), Routes Online says the slots will come into use from September this year.

    While still subject to official confirmation, it is speculated the new routes could involve: Belfast City, Inverness, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newquay.

    Flybe last served London City in 2005 as British European Airways (BE, Exeter).

    As part of its restructuring programme, Flybe. has cut a number of loss-making routes from its network - its London Gatwick operations having been among the most affected - though to compensate, it has begun cooperating with various local airports in the hopes of developing new viable routes.
  • Read more 29MAR2014: Stobart Air likely to firm ATR72 options on back of Flybe. deal
    Stobart Air (RE, Dublin Int'l) will likely convert four ATR72-600 options into firm orders following the recent announcement of its Flybe. (BE, Exeter) franchise agreement.

    Formerly Aer Arann Regional (RE, Dublin Int'l), the airline last week said it would operate a five year contract on behalf of Flybe. on services out of London Southend to destinations in the Benelux, France and Germany.

    Stobart Air interim chief executive Sean Brogan confirmed the move to the Irish Independent adding that next week, the airline will take delivery of its last of eight ATR72-600s ordered from Avions de Transport Régional (Toulouse Blagnac) in July 2012.

    Brogan declined to say when deliveries of the aircraft would begin stating only that negotiations "would probably begin this year."

    Stobart Air also operates ATR42-300s and a mixture of ATR 72-200/-500/-600s for and on behalf of Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin Int'l) as Aer Lingus Regional.

    Flybe. (BE, Exeter) has announced the signing of a five-year franchising agreement with Stobart Air (RE, Dublin Int'l) involving flights out of London Southend Airport. Under this new agreement, Stobart Air (formerly Aer Arann Regional (RE, Dublin Int'l)) will operate new routes from London Southend Airport to a mix of destinations in Benelux and Northern Europe in partnership with Flybe.

    The franchise operation will commence on June 5 with an initial two ATR72 aircraft to operate in Flybe. livery though more aircraft can be supplied should demand require so.

    Saad Hammad, Chief Executive Officer of Flybe., said: "We are delighted to be extending the Flybe. brand further into the South-East. Today's news is also further evidence of our commitment to providing true regional connectivity across the UK and we look forward to unveiling a major programme of new base and route development over the coming months."

    Flybe. has a similar franchise agreement with Loganair (LM, Glasgow Int'l) who have 17 turboprops operating in Flybe. colours.

    For its part, Stobart Air operates Aer Lingus Regional services as a franchisee of Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin Int'l) already.
