FedEx orders 50+50 B767 freighters from Boeing

FedEx Express (FX, Memphis Int'l) is to acquire one hundred new B767-300(F)s from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) constituting fifty firm orders with options for an additional fifty of the same type. Deliveries of the fifty firm order jets is scheduled to begin in 2018 and run through to 2023.

FedEx to order up to sixty new freighters from Boeing?

FedEx Express (FX, Memphis Int'l) is close to finalizing a new B767-300(F) freighter deal with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) Leeham News has reported. Quoting Market Intelligence, the site says the US logistics giant is keen to offload its ageing A300-600(F), MD-11(F) and DC-10 freighter fleets and as such, could order as many as fifty B767-300(F)s and possibly ten B777-Fs.

FedEx retires fifteen ageing freighters

FedEx Express (FX, Memphis Int'l) says it has permanently retired fifteen aircraft as part of a fleet capacity rationalization and modernization drive. Of the jets, seven were MD-11(F)s, three were A300-600(F)s, four were A310-300(F)s, and one was an MD10-10. A further twenty-three aircraft are expected to be retired in due course as well.

In the longterm, the US logistics giant says it will replace lost capacity with newer B777-Fs and B767-300(F)s delivered from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare).

Taiwan's EVA Air ends MD-11 freighter operations

EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) has ended MD-11(F) operations with B-16113 (msn 48790) operating the type's last commercial flight - BR606 Taipei Taoyuan-Anchorage Ted Stevens-Los Angeles Int'l - on March 23. The Taiwanese carrier operated a total of eight MD-11(F)s over a 23-year long span.

FedEx Express orders up one more B767 freighter

FedEx Express (FX, Memphis Int'l) has ordered one more B767-300(F) from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) the US manufacturer's latest order book figures have revealed. The US freight and logistics specialist now has thirty-nine of the type on order with sixteen of them already in revenue service.

FedEx says the B767 freighter is approximately 30% more fuel efficient and has unit operating costs that are more than 20% lower than the MD-10s it is replacing.
