Philippine Airlines to lease two more B777s next year

Philippine Airlines (PR, Manila) will beef up its fleet of six B777-300(ER)s with the lease of two more during the course of next year. Airline president Jaime Bautista told CAPA that their arrival would allow PAL to transition its Los Angeles and San Francisco operations to an all-B777 operation instead of its current mixed service which also employs A340s.

British Airways leasing a Spanish A320

British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) has leased an A320-200 from fellow International Airlines Group affiliate, Iberia (IB, Madrid Barajas), ch-aviation has learned. EC-ILR (cn 1793) is currently deployed on the UK carrier's London Heathrow-Madrid Barajas return service.

The UK carrier operates all variants of the A320 Family with two all-Premium configured A318-100s (in service with British Airways Ltd (London City)), forty-four A319-100s, sixty-eight A320-200s, and eighteen A321-200s.

China Eastern ends A340-600 revenue operations

China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) ended A340-600 commercial operations on Sunday, May 3 when B-6055 (cn 586) completed its last revenue flight from Tokyo Narita to Shanghai Pudong. The quadjet was not only the last of the type in service with China Eastern, but the last in service in China as a whole. The aircraft was used on flights from Shnaghai to Tokyo as well as to Singapore Changi and Toronto Pearson.
