  • Read more 28DEC2013: Ukrainian regulator suspends Air Onix's AOC
Air Onix (OG, Simferopol) has had its Air Operators Certificate suspended by the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry and the State Aviation Service. The decision was taken following a recent meeting of the regulator in which it was resolved that Air Onix should submit all its financial statements and a detailed plan to repay its creditors. Sources claim the airline is seeking to resume operations in Spring with Kiev Borispol to Simferopol and Donetsk to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion flights. This, however, is contingent on the airline passing an audit scheduled for January. The ch-aviation aircraft database shows both Air Onix aircraft - a B737-300, UR-KRA (msn 28873), and a B737-400, UR-KRE (msn 26302) - as being parked at Kiev Zhulyany.

Air Onix (OG, Simferopol) has been suspended by IATA from participating in its clearing house as "the airline has ceased operations." This will no longer allow travel agents to issue any new tickets on Air Onix flights booked through global distribution systems and settled through IATA's Billing and Settlement Plan. On December 13, Air Onix had issued a statement saying it would "optimize" its flight schedule by cancelling its daily Donetsk-Kiev Zhulyany until further notice because of the current political situation in Ukraine. According to ch-aviation research, Air Onix has actually not operated any flights with its B737-300 UR-KRA (msn 28873) and B737-400 UR-KRE (msn 26302) since December 13. The airline however continues to sell tickets for its routes from Kiev Zhulyany to Bratislava and Simferopol and from Simferopol to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion and Yerevan through its website.

Air Onix (OG, Simferopol) has been forced to amend its operations in light of the political upheavals currently affecting Ukraine. In its press statement, Air Onix said that effective December 15, it had suspended its Kiev Borispol to Donetsk service owing to substantial decline in demand. The route had catered mainly to business. In addition, owing to an unspecified aircraft fault, Air Onix has had to curtail its operations for the next few days while the affected aircraft undergoes necessary maintenance. The carrier expects services to return to normal thereafter. The regional airline operates just two aircraft now, a B737-400 and a B737-500, after its other two aircraft had previously been repossessed by lessor ILFC.
  • Read more 06NOV2013: ILFC moves to repossess its B737s from Ukraine's Air Onix
Air Onix (OG, Simferopol) has had two of its leased B737s repossessed by the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). Records show that B737-300 UR-KRA (msn 28873) is currently at Kiev Zhulyany while sister ship B737-500 UR-KRC (msn 26323) has been flown from Simferopol to Shannon. The resultant shortage of aircraft has reportedly lead to some delays and cancellations at the Ukrainian carrier. The international lessor had issued grounding notices on September 9, 2013 after Ukraine assented to the Cape Town Convention on aircraft-property rights. At the time of going to press, neither Air Onix nor the ILFC has issued an official statement on the seizure and have not responded to requests for confirmation.

Air Onix (OG, Simferopol) is set to lose its two B737-500s, UR-KRC (msn 26323) & UR-KRD (msn 26324), when lessor, the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), moves ahead with a planned repossession. The ILFC issued the grounding notices on September 9, 2013. The move comes after the Ukraine recently ratified the Cape Town Convention, a protocol which clearly defines the rights of aircraft owners or lessors in case of a default on payments, allowing them to repossess their equipment expeditiously in the event there is no resolution. As of this writing, Air Onix is however still operate both aircraft on its services.
