Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) may consider replacing its ageing fleet of Fokker regional jets with newer Embraer E-Jets. Austrian, Tyrolean to merge in April next year

Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) and sister carrier Tyrolean Airways (VO, Innsbruck) will merge on April 1, 2015, pending government approval. Austrian transferred all flight operations to Tyrolean in April 2012 after staff rejected the terms of a planned cost-cutting drive. The move resulted in a series of court battles in which affected employees questioned Austrian's authority to unilaterally cancel a previous Collective Wage Agreement (CWA).

Swiss regulator raises more queries over Darwin/Etihad tie up

Darwin Airline (F7, Lugano) has been given until the end of January 2015 to respond to additional queries raised by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) concerning Darwin's proposed sale of a 33% stake to Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l).
