LOT Polish Airlines leasing a B767 freighter from Cargojet

LOT Polish Airlines (LO, Warsaw Chopin) has wet-leased a B767-300(F) from Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON) for use on its recently launched Warsaw Chopin to New York JFK freight service. The flights this year will operate from January to April and from October to December.

According to AirCargoWorld, the freighter service was deemed necessary because fewer passenger flights are scheduled during the winter, resulting in less belly space available for cargo and mail shipments.

Once returned to service, the converted aircraft will fly long-distance routes in Canada, thereby benefiting from ...

Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON) is set to take delivery of its first of two B767-300(F)s following their conversions into freighters. The Canadian cargo specialist's first -300(F), C-GYAJ (msn 26064), is currently in storage at Goodyear awaiting its ferry flight to Rome, NY. Entry into service is dependent on Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) securing certification from Canadian authorities for the freighter modification.

Other aircraft that are scheduled to arrive later in the year are ...

Canada's Cargojet to double freighter fleet this year

Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON) will nearly double its current freighter fleet after it won a seven-year air express contract from Canada Post/Purolator. Jamie Porteous, Cargojet’s Executive VP Sales and Service, was quoted in The Loadstar as saying the carrier would acquire six B767-300(F)s and three B757-200(F)s by the end of this year adding to its current fleet of two 767-200(F)s, three 757-200(F)s, and nine B727-100(F)s.
