US-based global logistics giant UPS has announced the placement of a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) for fourteen B747-8(F)s. The agreement also includes options for fourteen additional aircraft of the same type.
“These aircraft are a strategic investment for increased capacity for UPS customers around the globe,” said Brendan Canavan, president, UPS Airlines (5X, Louisville Int'l). “The 747-8 will allow UPS to upsize our network in both new and existing markets.”
Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (RAH) says it has agreed with Bombardier (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) to amend a firm order agreement signed in 2010 for forty CS300s with forty additional options. The move is part of RAH's Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings which have allowed it to extricate itself from several financially onerous contracts.
