Edelweiss Air (WK, Zurich) and parent Swiss (LX, Zurich) have both vetoed a request from Travel Service Airlines (Prague Václav Havel) to get traffic rights to operate charter services between Switzerland and Egypt for Swiss tour operator Hotelplan. According to a report by Travel Inside, Edelweiss Air will now operate four weekly flights from Geneva and Zurich to Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh Hotelplan had planned to operate with Travel Service. Hotelplan has however cancelled a planned weekly service from Zurich to Marsa Alam. European Union charter operators can only get traffic rights from Switzerland to destinations outside of the EU if non Swiss operator is willing and able to provide a counter offer.
