China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has seen its cargo subsidiary, China Cargo Airlines (CK, Shanghai Hongqiao), accepted into the Skyteam Cargo Alliance following the signing of a Letter of Intent in June 2012. The move is part of the cargo carrier's plans to expand its international operations which, at present, are restricted to only the United States, Europe and South East Asia. It will also provide China Cargo with access to greater economies of scale said China Eastern SVP Shan Chuanbo. China Cargo's fleet consists of one B757-200(PF) and one MD-11(F), three A300-600(F)s, five B747-400(F)s and six B777-Fs though there are plans to retire the 757-200(F) and MD-11(F) come 2015.
