Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) are believed to be planning to acquire the MD-90 fleets of both EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) and Uni Air (B7, Taipei Sung Shan), to add to their own fleet of sixty-five. Uncorroborated reports state that Taiwan's EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) recently confirmed plans to phase out their MD-90s with the airline's president, Austin Cheng, quoted as saying that "all eleven of the MD-90s are being sold to Delta, with five scheduled to be transferred next year, three more in 2015 and the last three in 2016". The US carrier last year acquired 13 MD-90s from China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou). Should the two deals come to be, it would leave Delta as the world's only scheduled operator of the type.
