Comefly (Aalborg) has abandoned plans to resume its Aalborg to Fort Myers Southwest Florida flights after it claimed it was unable to raise sufficient funds to satisfy the Danish government's Travel Guarantee Fund's (Rejsegarantifonden) minimum requirements. In a press release, Comefly stated that when the route began operating in 2011, all the Fund required was a simple guarantee of USD1.3million. Since then, however, the requirements have changed with carriers now obligated to put down an additional risk premium of 15% of revenue as security, amounting to USD12.3million, thereby rendering the route unviable for the Danish tour operator to serve. Comefly operated 6 non-stop flights using an A330-200 leased from Monarch Airlines (1968) (London Luton) between Denmark and the US in 2011.
