LAN Argentina (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) has had its impending eviction from an MRO hangar at Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery by the Argentine airports authority (Organismo Regulador del Sistema Nacional de Aeropuertos - ORSNA) temporarily suspended after Argentine judge, Claudia Rodríguez Vidal, questioned its legality. Announcing her decision just hours before the notice was due to expire, Judge Vidal ruled that the government, through ORSNA, had not given LAN enough time to consider its position on the matter. As such, the "precautionary measure" now allows the carrier to continue its normal operations at the Aeroparque pending a Federal Government report on the dispute due within the next 5 days. Thereafter, Judge Vidal is expected to issue a final ruling next week. LAN Argentina has stated that the loss of the MRO hangar would undoubtedly lead to the suspension of its operations. Such is the gravity of the dispute that the CEO of LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile) itself, Ignacio Cueto, has been in Buenos Aires for meetings with bureaucrats from Cristina Kirchner's government in an effort at reaching a solution.
