Adria Airways (Ljubljana) and Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) are set to commence flights to the Macedonian littoral town of Ohrid after local authorities there voted to award subsidies to the two airlines in return for their services. According to EX-YU Aviation News, the Mayor of Ohrid, Nikola Bakračeski, says a total of EUR200'000 will be allocated to the airlines with the nearby town of Struga to also contribute funds. The Hungarian LCC says it has identified northern Italy, Switzerland and Germany as potential destinations from Ohrid. Furthermore, the airline believes it could attract passengers from Albania as well due to the town’s proximity to the Albanian border. Adria is likely to resume its Ljubljana flights, suspended due to cost cutting measures before. Ohrid currently sees a seasonal summer service from Arke Fly (Amsterdam Schiphol), Corendon Dutch Airlines (CD, Amsterdam Schiphol), Jetairfly (Brussels National) and Jat Airways (Belgrade).
