Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) will make Los Angeles International its fourth US destination next year when it will launch daily flights from its Abu Dhabi International hub to its first US West Coast city in its network from June 1, 2014. Etihad plans to use B777-200(LR) aircraft for the service that Etihad will acquire from Indian national carrier Air India (AI, Delhi International). It will acquire five of Air India's eight aircraft. Etihad already serves Chicago O'Hare, New York JFK and Washington Dulles in the US as well as Toronto Pearson using a mix of A340-600s and B777-300(ER)s. In other news, Etihad has entered into a partnership agreement with airBaltic (BT, Riga) that will see the Latvian carrier use an A319-100 of Etihad partner CSA Czech Airlines (OK, Prague Václav Havel) to introduce a new four times weekly A319-100 service linking Riga with Abu Dhabi from December 16. This new route will replace Air Baltic's previous route to Dubai International.
