Golden Myanmar Airlines (GMR, Yangon) is planning to base its two new ATR72-600s to be delivered in early 2014 on lease from Air Lease Corporation at Mandalay International and Yangon according to a report by CAPA. It will initially use the aircraft for domestic services before expanding to international routes serving Bangkok Suvarnabhumi or Chiang Mai for example. Golden Myanmar is the country's first low-cost carrier and currently operates daily services from Yangon to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Mandalay and Singapore Changi. It plans to double its frequencies to both Bangkok and Singapore and launch a new daily domestic service from Yangon to the Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw from October 28 with the arrival of a second ex-Air Astana (KC, Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev) A320-200.
