UTair (UT, Khanty-Mansiysk) has withdrawn its last remaining Yak-42Ds and Tu-154M, RA-85018 (cn 90A-852), from revenue service. According to airline spokeswoman, Elena Galanova, the Yak 42s have now been returned to their owner, Tulpar Airlines (1991) (Kazan International). "Let me reiterate that it was not due to age; it was because of their economic inefficiency - high consumption of aviation fuel, as well as high maintenance costs," she said. The regional carrier is expecting to take delivery of its first of six next generation Russian aircraft, SSJ 100/95s, in the second quarter of 2014.
