Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) could see its new home, Doha Hamad International, finally become operational in January 2014 Qatar's transport minister, Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti, has said. Speaking to BusinessTraveller, Mr al-Sulaiti said that cargo flights could begin operations from the delay-prone facility in the next few weeks though passenger flights would only likely come online later in 2014. Among the carriers expected at the airport's soft opening of its Concourse B are: Air Arabia (G9, Sharjah), Air India Express (IX, Delhi International), Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka), flydubai (FZ, Dubai International), IranAir (IR, Tehran Mehrabad), Nepal Airlines (RA, Kathmandu), PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International), RAK Airways (Ras al Khaimah International), Syrianair (RB, Damascus) and Yemenia (IY, Aden). Marred by numerous delays and bickering between the Qatari state, Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) and the facilities' contractors, New Doha Interational Airport is expected to handle 28 million passengers initially, increasing to 50 million beyond 2015.
