Avianca Brasil (São Paulo Congonhas) CEO José Efromovich has confirmed that his airline is still in talks with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) to acquire thirty aircraft. Speaking at a press conference in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, Mr Efromovich said his airline would also acquire more Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) jets to replace the airline's existing fleet of thirteen Fokker 100s. "We will withdraw Fokker aircraft and replace them with aircraft capable of carrying 164 passengers; the Airbus 320 model," he said. During his presentation, Mr Efromovich also said that the airline would follow Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) in capping its domestic fares at BRR999 (USD420) from February to July in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
