Kuwait Airways (KU, Kuwait) will proceed with its USD4.4billion deal with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) despite a motion by the Kuwaiti parliament to investigate all contracts signed by the state-owned carrier. Signed in December, the contract covers the purchase of ten A350-900s and fifteen A320neo jets with provision to lease twelve interim aircraft from the European manufacturer. Local daily, Al-Anba newspaper, quoted Kuwait Airways' Chairwoman Rasha al-Roumi as saying that despite the inquest, the deal would go ahead without delay. Kuwait's parliament has held numerous inquests into the issuance of government tenders, often delaying and at times scuppering them.
