Southern Air (Cincinnati International) is set to take delivery of its first of five B737-400(F)s to be used as part of a multi-year service agreement with global logistics giant, DHL Express. The new freighters will be used in expanding its US, Latin America and Caribbean network with two of the aircraft to be based out of Caracas Simón Bolivar for flights to Bridgetown, Bogotá and Panamá City Tocumen International. The other three aircraft will be based in the United States linking DHL's Cincinnati International hub to several cities along the Northeast and Midwest, including Philadelphia International, Hartford Bradley and St. Louis Lambert International.

Though no announcement has been made regarding the source of the conversions, industry standard, Cargo Facts believes it is Aeronautical Engineers Inc. with the first of the five B737-400s believed to be N493SA (msn 29487) formerly with JTA - Japan Transocean Air (NU, Okinawa Naha).

DHL Express and Southern Air also recently extended a multi-year Flight Services Agreement for the use of four B777-Fs.
