SEAir International (XO, Angeles City Clark International) has applied to the Filipino Civil Aeronautics Board to become a designated carrier of the Philippines so as to launch its first international flights to Taiwan.

As part of the petition, the airline has requested permission to operate non-scheduled international services between the two nations under the terms of their existing bilateral air service agreement.

The Philippine Flight Network reports that the CAB has set a hearing date of March 20.

The carrier had originally intended to launch Manila Ninoy Aquino International to Caticlan flights later this year but suspended those plans in the wake of the takeover of Tigerair Philippines (Angeles City Clark International) by Cebu Pacific Air (5J, Manila Ninoy Aquino International). The route was to have used a slot borrowed from Tigerair which, given the takeover of the airline, could no longer be guaranteed.
