Lufthansa Cargo (LH, Frankfurt International) has plans to establish partnerships with various other airlines CEO Karl Ulrich Garnadt has revealed. Announcing Lufthansa Cargo's annual results, Garnadt told Reuters that partnerships will help the freight specialist to boost its reach while the use of its partner's hubs will help cut costs.

"We are in talks with more than one airline, a second partnership should follow in 2015," he said.

Speculation is rife that Lufthansa's new partner will be Air China (CA, Beijing Capital) after the head of corporate finance at parent carrier, Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International), Markus Ott, recently disclosed that talks between the German and Chinese airlines had already taken place.

European carriers are increasingly looking for partnerships with Far Eastern carriers to counter the threat posed by Gulf carriers.
