Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) is to become the first carrier to operate the A380-800 into India following the Indian government's lifting of a ban on the use of type in January this year.

Effective May 30, Singapore Airlines will deploy the A380 on flights to Mumbai International and Delhi International taking over from two daily flights that currently serve each city using smaller B777-200s. Another daily flight will continue to operate using the B777.

Emirates (EK, Dubai International) and Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) have also expressed keen interest in deploying their respective twindeck aircraft onto flights to India.
