Spirit Airlines (NK, Fort Lauderdale International) has reportedly reached an agreement with Miami-Dade County officials over the establishment of a domestic and regional hub at Miami International. According to CBS News, following year-long negotiations, the only outstanding matter is the finalization of paperwork which could lead to flights launching as early as autumn of this year.
Currently, Miami Int'l counts American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) as its dominant carrier followed by Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) while Spirit's main base is at Fort Lauderdale International close by.
