Air Cairo (SM, Cairo International) has announced it will operate year-round scheduled flights from the German cities of Düsseldorf, Stuttgart Manfred Rommel and Hannover to the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada using its fleet of four A320-200s.

Speaking to the Egyptian press, Air Cairo chairman, Yasser El Ramly, said the flights will mark the airline's transition from a charter specialist into a hybridized low cost carrier.

"These routes will begin on May 3, 2014, with 3 weekly flights from Dusseldorf, two from Stuttgart, and two from Hanover, providing direct connections between the German market and the city of Hurghada as one of the favorable destinations," he said.

Majority-owned by national carrier EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International), Air Cairo intends to position itself as the country's most competitive low-cost carrier.
