Jet Airways (JAI, Mumbai International) has rejected Indian media reports it has cancelled an order for seventeen B737-800 WIN.s on the back of financing concerns. India's Economic Times quoted sources close to Jet Airways' as saying the January 2012 order was cancelled when Boeing (BOE, Washington National) asked it to make its first Pre-Delivery Payments (PDP). It also claimed that orders for ten B787-8s had now been deferred.

However, The Wall Street Journal has now reported that the airline has in fact swapped the order for B737 MAXs though the US manufacturer has yet to corroborate this.

“Jet has not canceled any aircraft order. The airline has in fact opted for a more fuel-efficient variant,” the executive told The Wall Street Journal.

Jet Airways inked a purchase agreement with Boeing for fifty Boeing 737 MAXs in August last year.
