Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil) is to wet-lease two of its aircraft to other European operators as a result of overcapacity on its home and regional markets.

According to airline sources, for the upcoming Summer season, the carrier has already begun wet-leasing a B737-400, UR-GAP (msn 27094), to Italy's Blue Panorama Airlines (Rome Fiumicino) while a B737-800 will soon be based out of Amsterdam Schiphol for operations on behalf of Corendon Dutch Airlines (CD, Amsterdam Schiphol).

The Ukrainian carrier has been severely impacted on both the domestic and international fronts as a result of the ongoing crisis affecting the country. According to CAPA, while inbound traffic has been impacted by travel bans and travel advisories, outbound and domestic traffic has been impacted by not only the threat of civil war, but also by a plummeting Ukrainian Hryvnia which lost almost 50% against the US Dollar in 1Q2014.
