Norwegian Long Haul (Oslo Gardermoen) could see new competition from Viking International Airlines (Oslo Gardermoen), a local start-up aiming to offer passenger and cargo flights to Asia and North America using the northern airport of Lakselv.

According to Sweden's Flygtorget newswire, the airline intends to exploit the airport's geographical position and market its services to the local fishing and petroleum market using a possible fleet of five ex-Air China (CA, Beijing Capital) B747-400(M)s

The carrier's plans also include the establishment of a direct Oslo Gardermoen to Miami International service which would put it into direct competition with Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) and SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup).
