Saudia (SV, Jeddah International) and Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) have resumed services to the troubled north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar following the recent attack on a PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International) A310-300 while on finals into the airport's runway 35.

Despite the Pakistani Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) giving airlines the all-clear to resume services, various carriers - Emirates (EK, Dubai International), Gulf Air (GF, Bahrain International) and Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) among them - have chosen to maintain their suspensions until the security situation in the region improves.

Police in the area last week arrested a commander of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Shahid group for his alleged involvement in the attack on PK756 which left one dead and three injured.
