Croatia Airlines (OU, Zagreb Franjo Tuđman) CEO Krešimir Kučko has told the Airfinance Russia & CIS Conference that his airline will proceed with fleet expansion plans following the conclusion of its 4 year-long restructuring program later this year.

The Croatian national carrier is looking to add three new aircraft to its fleet over the course of the next year EX-YU Aviation News claims, with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) 100-seater aircraft said to be the strongest contender.

“If Croatia Airlines were to buy more aircraft today it would choose an Embraer model, but other manufacturers will be considered when the time comes,” he said adding “What we are missing now is 100-seaters.”

Croatia Airlines operates four A319-100s, two A320s and six Dash 8-400s with four additional A319s on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) currently deferred indefinitely.

Kučko told reporters that the airline has saved USD35million in costs in addition to restructuring several outstanding loans.
