ASKY Airlines (KP, Lomé) is seeking between USD20-25million in a capital raising drive aimed at helping the Pan-West African carrier cover current and future costs. The JeuneAfrique magazine reports that shareholder Ecobank Transnational Inc., whose co-founder is ASKY's current chairman, Gervais Koffi Djondo, and the Ecowas Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), have already confirmed their participation in the drive.

Despite earlier reports to the contrary, the Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) subsidiary has rejected all notions that South African Airways (SA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) will be a participant.

Founded in 2009, ASKY operates three B737-700s, four Dash 8-400s, and one B737-400(F) on scheduled passenger and cargo flights throughout Central and West Africa. The carrier has plans to commence services to Luanda 4 De Fevereiro, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo and Beirut in the near future.
