United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) has joined fellow American operators, Delta Air Lines (DL, Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) and American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth), in reducing its Venezuelan operations. The Illinois-based carrier said in a statement that effective September 15, it will reduce its Houston Intercontinental to Caracas Simón Bolivar frequency from daily to 4x weekly. Unlike Delta, it will not downgauge the equipment used on the route, sticking with a B737-700.

Despite assurances from Caracas that the issue would be resolved, the majority of foreign carriers affected by Venezuela's foreign currency shortage have yet to receive any of the USD4billion+ in unpaid ticket remittances owed them.
