British Airways (BA, London Heathrow) has firmed options for twenty-one A320neo aircraft with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow 2014. The International Airlines Group (IAG) subsidiary will use the twinjets to replace 21 shorthaul outgoing aircraft.

The options are part of an earlier order placed by the IAG in August 2013 on behalf of its Spanish subsidiary, Vueling Airlines (VY, Barcelona El Prat), which, in addition to a firm commitment for as many as 120 Airbus A320 family aircraft, also entailed 100 A320neo options.

The ch-aviation aircraft database shows British Airways operates two A318-100s, forty-four A319-100s, fifty-eight A320s, and eighteen A321s on flights throughout mainland Europe, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, and across the Atlantic to the United States (with A318s from London City).
