Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) for thirty E195-E2s. In a statement issued during Farnborough International Airshow 2014, the Brazilian manufacturer said the firm order is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year following which the aircraft will be added to the airline’s backlog.

The LOI includes an additional 20 purchase rights for the same model, bringing the total potential order to up to fifty EMB-195-E2 jets. Should all options be firmed, the contract could have an estimated value of USD3.1billion at list prices.

The first airline to order the type, Azul is the launch operator for this aircraft which will add to its already extensive fleet of one E175, twenty-two E190s, and fifty-five E195s.

As the first delivery of the first EMB-190-E2 is only planned for the first semester of 2018, so the first EMB-195-E2 is slated to enter service in 2019.
