Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has finalized an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for fifty B777-9Xs with a commitment for an additional fifty purchase rights. All options exercised, the total order is valued at USD37.7billion at list prices.
Firmed during the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow 2014, the order was first announced as a commitment during the 2013 Dubai Airshow.
The Qataris also announced their intent to order four B777-Fs and options for four more, with a combined value of USD2.4billion at list prices.
"The Boeing 777 is the backbone of our fleet and is highly amenable to the standards Qatar Airways upholds. We look forward to building on our legacy with the next-generation 777-9X," Qatar Airways Akbar al Baker said.
