Afriqiyah Airways (8U, Tripoli Mitiga) has resumed operating flights to London Gatwick, albeit from the Tunisian resort town of Djerba. In statement issued via its Facebook account, the Libyan carrier disputed claims the country's western airspace was closed adding that it plans to offer flights from Tripoli's secondary international airport, Tripoli Mitiga, and Brak to Cairo International, Dubai International, Alexandria Borg el Arab, Jeddah International, Casablanca Mohamed V, Tunis, and Istanbul Atatürk this week.

Sister airline, Libyan Airlines (LN, Tripoli Mitiga), has also resumed partial international flights with Mitiga to Malta International. However, all other operations, both domestic and international, have been suspended until further notice.

Private carrier Buraq Air (UZ, Tripoli Mitiga) has also outlined plans to resume scheduled domestic flights from Mitiga and Brack to Cairo also on the cards.

Protracted inter-factional fighting at Tripoli International over the last two weeks has left an estimated 97 dead with at least 12 aircraft either written off or damaged.
