Elite Airways (MNU, Portland International Jetport) is set to venture into the scheduled passenger services sector with the launch of twice weekly Washington Dulles to Melbourne, FL flights on September 8. Elite president, John Pearsall, told a press conference on Monday that additional routes to Portland International Jetport will be introduced later on in autumn.

While the flights will appear as scheduled services, they are, in reality, considered public charter flights as Elite has yet to secure the necessary Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications required to operate scheduled passenger services. Once those certificates are secured this autumn, Pearsall said, Elite will expand its operations to 5x weekly services.

Founded in 2006, Elite specializes in charter flights onboard its four CRJ200s and one CRJ100. As part of its expansion plans, it intends to add a B757-200 at some point in the near future.
