Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) Board of Directors have approved a move to acquire more shares in its Russian Far East subsidiary, Aurora (HZ, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), which is set to issue additional stock in due course.

"The transaction increases the value of JSC Aeroflot’s stake in Aurora, while the size of the stake remains unchanged at 51%," an Aeroflot communqiue stated.

The remaining 49% stake in the carrier is owned by the government of Sakhalin Oblast.

Formed out of the consolidation of Vladivostok Air (Vladivostok) and SAT Airlines (Russian Federation) (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) late last year, Aurura operates five A319-100s, an A320-200, two B737-200Advs, three B737-500s, two Dash 8-200s, and four Dash 8-300s on flights throughout the Russian Far East as well as to China and Japan.
