Syphax Airlines (Sfax) has been given the go-ahead to start Beijing Capital flights after the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) granted the carrier the requisite traffic rights. While he had previously hoped to commence its maiden Far Eastern scheduled flights as early as November of this year, Syphax CEO Mohammed Frika said the inaugural flights will now only likely launch early next year.

In anticipation of the launch, Syphax will operate two promotional flights to Beijing and Guangzhou in October this year.

At present, the Tunisian airline operates a largely Euro-centric route network with a single A330-200 plying its sole longhaul route - a weekly Tunis to Montréal Trudeau flight.
