TAM Linhas Aéreas (São Paulo Congonhas) parent, LATAM Airlines Group, has signed a firm order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for twenty-seven A350-900s valued at approximately USD7billion at list prices. Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled to begin in December 2015 and carry on until 2019.

Announcing the order, Roberto Alvo, LATAM's chief corporate officer, said that as the type's South American launch-customer, TAM would deploy its A350s on international flights.

At present, TAM's widebody operations are a mixture of Airbus and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) metal with ten A330-200s, eight B767-300s, and ten B777-300(ER)s used on domestic Brazilian flights as well as services to the United States, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Chile.
