Med-View Airline (Kano) is planning to launch its first longhaul flights to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in November the airline's Managing Director, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, has said.

"Med-View has obtained all necessary licences and approvals to operate four scheduled weekly flights from Kano and Abuja into Jeddah International. We have also obtained license to fly into Dubai International. We expect this service to start in November,” he told Nigeria's Nation newspaper in an interview.

According to the ch-aviation route database, Med-View's competition on flights to Dubai will be Arik Air (W3, Lagos) and Emirates (EK, Dubai International) which both operate out of Lagos and Abuja. Emirates was to have commenced services to Kano earlier this month but has since abandoned those plans.

Med-View has operated flights to Saudi Arabia in the past, albeit as a designated Hajj charter operator ferrying pilgrims to Makkah. At present, it operates a fleet of two B737-400s and one B737-500s with a recently wet-leased B737-800 having now been returned to its lessor.
