AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2, Baku Heydar Aliev International) has delayed the upcoming delivery of its two B787-8s to Spring 2015 airline sources in the capital, Baku, have told the Trend news agency. The aircraft - msn 37920 and 37921 - were to have arrived in July and December respectively but it has since emerged that one of the airframes has now been placed into storage. The assembly of the other, scheduled to begin in Charleston in September, is still tentatively set to go ahead.

It was initially speculated that AZAL would use the B787s on its maiden New York JFK services, set to launch on September 24, though this has now passed to its fleet of A340-500s.
