Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) will tentatively resume scheduled services to the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, with effect from October 26. According to Airline Route, the service will operate daily on-board an A320-200 though this is still subject to confirmation.

Georgia and Russia suspended scheduled flights in 2008 following the South Ossetia War which pitted the former Soviet Republic against Russia and the separatist states of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Since then, the resumption of flights has proven to be a tough diplomatic nut to crack with repeated dialogue and negotiations having taken place.

In the absence of scheduled services, S7 Airlines (S7, Novosibirsk) and Georgian Airways (A9, Tbilisi) currently operate scheduled charter flights between the two countries.
