Mehair (Mumbai International) made its first scheduled flights on Monday, August 25, between its home base, Mumbai Juhu, and Pawana dam in Lonavala, located 96km outside the city of Mumbai.

"We have received tremendous response from the customers. As a matter-of-fact, both the daily flights and weekly flights that we will operate have seen full bookings till September 15," Mehair co-founder and director, Siddharth Verma, told India's Economic Times after the launch.

Verma went on to add that the seaplane-based airline currently operates a leased Cessna 206 alongside an in-house a Cessna (single turboprop) 208A. A second 208A is due next month followed by a further two in December he said.

Mehair will launch services to Gangapur Dam in Nashik, Mula Dam in Shirdi, Varasgaon Dam in Lavasa (Pune district) and Dhoom Dam in Mahabaleshwar (Satara district) once all regulatory paperwork has been completed.
