JAL - Japan Airlines (JL, Tokyo Haneda) has signed a firm order with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) for fifteen E-Jets alongside a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation (Nagoya Chubu) for thirty-two M90 Regional Jets (MRJ).

Concerning its USD677 million order with the Brazilian manufacturer, the Japanese carrier said it had committed to E170 and E190 aircraft with options for an additional twelve E-Jets. All aircraft will be operated by Japan Airlines' wholly-owned subsidiary, J-Air (Nagoya Komaki), and are scheduled to arrive from 2015 onwards.

Concerning its order with Mitsubishi, JAL said the aircraft would be deployed on J-Air's domestic routes with effect from 2021 onwards. JAL also said it would start retiring some its turboprop aircraft operated by Japan Air Commuter (JC, Kagoshima) starting next year. Japan Air Commuter currently operates 11 Dash 8-400s and 11 Saab 340Bs.
