Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) will add additional B757s to its fleet in anticipation of next year's Summer high season. With an estimated 2.9million passengers expected to use the airline - roughly 300'000 more than this year - the Icelandair Group says it 2015 international flight schedule will be the largest in the company´s history.

"The company will increase flights to most of its destinations next summer. Specifically, 12 flights will be added weekly to both North America and Europe for a total of 24 flights, from 254 departures from Reykjavik Keflavik airport weekly, to 278 departures over the high season next summer. Birmingham, GB, UK and Portland International, USA will be added as new destinations but flights to St. Petersburg, Russia will not continue," the group said in a statement. "A total of 23 Boeing 757 aircraft will be used in the Route Network next summer, two more than this summer."

Currently, the carrier operates twenty-one B757-200s (one of which is leased out to French transatlantic start-up La Compagnie (B0, Paris Orly)) alongside one B757-300. Two B767-300(ER)s are currently leased out to Air Niugini (PX, Port Moresby).
