PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International) has secured wet-leases on seven aircraft just months after international lessors fled the country in the wake of an attack on a PIA A310-300 while on finals into the north-western city of Peshawar.

In an interview with the Dawn newspaper, PIA spokesman Mashhood Tajwar, said two undisclosed firms had agreed to provide the Pakistani carrier the aircraft on six-month contracts.

"Two airlines - one from Turkey and one from Bulgaria — have agreed to provide PIA with four and three aircraft, respectively, on wet lease in November this year. The PIA management remained in negotiations with the foreign airlines for sometime and finally managed to win over their confidence," he said.

The Turkish airline has agreed to provide PIA with four B737-800s (180-seater) while the Bulgarian operator will supply three A320-200s.
