Aloha Air Cargo (KH, Honolulu) will acquire its first widebody freighter ahead of plans to offer cargo flights to the US mainland. The Hawaiian operator said in a statement that it will supplement its existing fleet of three B737-200(F)s, three B737-300(F)s, and three Saab 340(F)s with a maiden B767-300F for use on 5x weekly Honolulu to Los Angeles International flights beginning October 23.

"The new service will be geared toward freight forwarders, consolidators, passenger carrier partners, and businesses looking to sync up with Aloha's existing interisland network, for seamless movement of through cargo shipments to the Neighboring Hawaiian Islands," it said.

The route will significantly increase the carrier's domestic capacity between North America and the Pacific region, and improve service reliability and frequency for onward shipments into Kona, Kahului, and across the State of Hawaii.
