Meridiana (Olbia) is set to dramatically expand its Naples Capodichino operations when it establishes the Italian port city as its Mediterranean hub in late October. Speaking to the local Italian press earlier this week, Meridiana's Chief Commercial Officer, Andrea Andorno, said the decision to upgrade Naples to a hub airport came on the back of a very strong summer season.

Beginning October 26, the following new destinations will be added to Naples' network: Bologna, Genoa, Milan Malpensa, Geneva, Lviv, Madrid Barajas, and Sharm el Sheikh.

The Italian carrier already operates an extensive international network out of Naples with flights to throughout Italy, Europe, the United States, and Russia offered in conjunction with its Air Italy (2005) (Milan Malpensa) subsidiary.
